Peacefully at Caressant Care Nursing Home, Courtland, on Monday, February 27, 2017, Jean Grace Pickersgill-Carson, formerly of Tillsonburg, at the age of 97 years. Predeceased by her loving husband Eugene (1976), her son Lanny (2013), and granddaughter Judy Lynn (1961). Loving and supportive mother, grandmother and great grandmother to Garry Carson and his wife Holly of Tillsonburg; Edward Carson of Vermillion Bay; Wendy Lauwerier and her husband Brian Chanyi of Simcoe; 14 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents Allan Pickersgill and Grace Hazen; brother Hazen Pickersgill and his wife Pearl; Harold Pickersgill and his wife Grace; sister Marjorie Matthews; Gordon Pickersgill and his wife Marion; sister in law Marion Whitesell and her husband Clarence; brother in law Ross Carson and his wife Betty. Aunt to several nieces and nephews. Jean was a lifelong resident of Norfolk County, she loved her birds, and had a passion for sewing and gardening. Jean truly lived for her family. The family would like to thank the staff of Caressant Care Nursing Home, Courtland, for their love, care and compassion over the last 3 years while Jean was in their care. Friends and relatives will be received at Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg (519-842-5221) on Friday, March 03, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. The Memorial Service for Jean will be held in Ostrander’s Chapel at 12:00 p.m. following the visitation. A Private Family Interment will be at the Tillsonburg Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Caressant Care Nursing Home, Courtland – Staff, Caressant Care Nursing Home, Courtland – Resident Council, or LPRCA – Backus Mill would be appreciated by the Carson family.
