1926 - 2017
Peacefully, on Monday April 3, 2017, just 3 days past her 91st birthday at Caressant Care Nursing Home, Courtland Ontario. Beloved Wife to Harry Hopper (1961) and Walter Halwas (2009) . Loving and caring mother to Mel (Hanna), Ted, David (Louise), Mark (Cynthia) and a step-daughter Laura Petker (Jim). Shirley is also survived by her 8 grandchildren, Mark, Candi, Trevor, Jason, Harry, Corey, Shawn, and Amanda as well as 21 great-grandchildren and a sister Barbara Kennedy. Shirley was predeceased by her parents Theodore & Maggie Taylor, brother Bud Taylor, grandson Kevin Hopper and brother-in-law Cecil Kennedy. Shirley worked in the local farming industry for many years before operating her own business. She will be dearly missed by the staff at Caressant Care and all those who knew her. Friends and relatives will be received at the Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell St, Tillsonburg, on Friday April 7, 2017 from 3:00 to 7:00 P.M. Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Saturday April 8, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Paul Robinson officiating. Interment in Delmer Cemetery.
