Peacefully, surrounded by her family at Sakura House in Woodstock on Saturday, February 11, 2017 Brenda Prudentia (Roloson) Lammens, of Langton and formerly of Prince Edward Island, was called Home to be with her Lord at the age of 61 years. Beloved wife and best friend of Raymond for 35 years. Loving and devoted mother of her two daughters Rossilind Lammens and her husband Bryan Sweazey and Patricia Lammens and her fiancé Sheldon Durkin. Proud grandmother of Farrah and Marla. Dearly loved daughter of Douglas and Grace (Hanson) Roloson of Prince Edward Island. Cherished sister of Janet McIssac and her husband Ian, Margaret Murchison and her husband Jim, Bill Roloson and his wife Bonnie and Aaron Roloson and his friend Mary Ellen Davies all of Prince Edward Island. Brenda will also be missed by her mother-in-law Madeline Lammens of Langton, brothers-in-law Glen Morrison and Wanda Clive of New Brunswick, Richard Lammens and his wife Caroline of Langton and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her sister Christine Morrison, father-in-law Sam Lammens and sister-in-law Bonnie Jean Roloson. Brenda worked as a law clerk at Gibson, Linton, Toth, and Campbell prior to life with Raymond. Brenda and her husband Raymond have operated an asparagus farm in the west end of Norfolk County for more than 30 years. Brenda was an avid leader. Brenda was a pioneer when it came to women in agriculture. She was a strong supporter of other women, encouraging them to follow in her and others’ footsteps. Brenda was on an Advisory Committee of the supporting the advancement of women in agriculture initiative by the Canadian Agricultural Horticultural Council. She was a former Ontario Fruit and Vegetable Growers’ Association (OFVGA) Chair (second woman to do so) and served as a Director for 7 years. She won the 2017 OFVGA Industry Award of Merit. She was also the Chair of both Agri-Food Management Institute and Ontario Agriculture Council. Brenda was a member of the Agriculture Adaptation Council in the South Central Ontario Region (SCOR) and past winner of the American Agri Women’s Vision Award. Brenda was very active and involved in every aspect of her faith at First Baptist Church. She touched people in every avenue of her life and will be missed, cherished and remembered for her bouncy personality and contagious laugh. Friends and relatives are invited to share memories of Brenda at Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg (519-842-5221) on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. The Memorial Service for Brenda will be held at First Baptist Church, 100 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Steve Amorin officiating. Private inurnment will be held at a later date at the Tillsonburg Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Camp Trillium or VON Sakura House would be appreciated by the Lammens family.
