With great sadness, we announce the passing of our much loved father, grandfather, and great grandfather George William Bennell, of Tillsonburg, who passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital at the age of 88 years. Predeceased by his loving wife Madelyn (2003). Loving father to Rob Bennell and his wife Doreen of Simcoe; Karen Rice and her husband Terry of Tillsonburg. Caring, and supportive grandfather to Heather Vanka and her partner Matt; and Michael Vanka. Great grandfather to Hayden and Logan Lounsbury. Brother to Raymond Bennell and his wife Marion of St. Thomas. Uncle to several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents George and Eileen Bennell; sister Marion Doran and her husband Frank. George was a member of the Ontario Harvard Aircraft Association, where he spent time helping restore the Harvard’s as well as enjoyed his opportunities to be able to fly in the Harvards as well. George was also a member of the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters. Friends and relatives are invited to attend visitation at Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg (519-842-5221) on Thursday, January 26, 2017 from 3:00–5:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. The memorial service for George will be held Friday, January 27, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in Ostrander’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Pat Cook officiating. Inurnment will be at the Tillsonburg Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Humane Society, Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital or St. Paul’s United Church, Tillsonburg.
