Obituary for Alice Nelson

Alice “Alli” Nelson, passed away peacefully at Woodingford Lodge in Woodstock on Thursday, August 11th, in her 79th year. Alli was surrounded during her life and in her final days by family, friends, and a loving God. Alice was born the youngest of four children to Katie and Humphrey Campbell of Dutton and will be greatly missed by her children Garry (Kelly) and Katie (Jonathan), her cherished grandsons Jordan and Aidan, her brother Donald Campbell (Shirley) and her sisters’-in-law Shirley Campbell and Mary Campbell, many loved nieces and nephews, their spouses and their children. She is predeceased by husband of 55 years Duaine Nelson, her parents and brothers, Ronald Campbell and Robert Campbell.
Alice was a long-time resident of Tillsonburg and spent her life caring for others. During her career as a nurse she worked at the Tillsonburg Hospital, Medical Clinic and then as part of the VON (Victorian Order of Nurses). She also served the community as a member of the congregation at Avondale United Church. Alice loved life and laughter and enjoyed nothing more than sharing a meal or an outing with neighbours, friends or family.
The family will receive family and friends at Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell St. Tillsonburg (519) 842-5221 on Sunday, August 14th from 3:00pm – 5:00pm. A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 15th, 2016 at 2:00pm at Avondale United Church, Tillsonburg. Interment will follow the service at Delmer Cemetery. Donations in Alice’s memory may be made to Avondale United Church.
A heartfelt thank you to the kind staff at Woodingford Lodge who made Alli feel safe and cared for during her final year and days.
