Condolence From: Brenda Howse
Condolence: I worked with Bruce for a time in the office at TRW and he was again in my life at Alpha. There was always kindness in his voice and a sense that he LIVED his love of The Lord. Bruce went out of his way to acknowledge everyone and was a wonderful human being ...a truly gentle and sincere soul. RIP Bruce.

Condolence: Our heartfelt condolences go out to Janice, her girls and family. Bruce's death comes as a great loss to us all. I first became aware of Bruce during my early days at the Collegiate in 1956. While walking the cavernous halls I was "abducted" from behind by two more senior students. I was carried by my arms into Sid Mitton's tech. office. Mr. Mitton looked up from his desk and asked "What have we here?" To which Bruce replied "Our new coxie!" This has been a great relationship extended over many years. This was my introduction to rowing, which we shared through high school and club rowing. Bruce was often our stroke. A decade later we met again and Bruce steered me into the Old Boys' Association where I took over his treasurer's job in the newly named "Alumni". Bruce was a great mentor to us all. He upheld a high moral code. When you heard him affirm "That's not right!" it wasn't long before Bruce set out a plan to correct it. Merrill Blank's poem "The Coxswain" applies to Bruce as I paraphrase, "Let it run, Bruce, Your race is over and you have won!!" RIP (row in peace)

Condolence: While knowing Bruce for many years, we reconnected last summer during the evenings he was at the lake watching his grandsons learn to row. Bruce was a wonderful caring man. I wish I could come to his celebration of life but the Canadian high school rowing Championship is this weekend - I'm sure Bruce would understand.

Condolence: Janice and Family I am so sorry for your loss. I had the privilege of having Bruce as my coach in 1970 (Junior 135 Eight). His approach was always encouraging. Even though it was only for one season, the memories have stayed with me to this day. I would often search him out at regattas to touch bases and reminisce. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Condolence From: Sheila & Fred Marlow
Condolence: Dear Janice and Family: How saddened we are to hear of Bruce's passing. We go back so far together, so many good memories. I will always think of Bruce as he announced the races at the Silver Lake Regatta and all the hard work he did to get that rowing club established: the 3 Musketeers, Bruce, Jim and Fred. So sorry he suffered in the end, he did not deserve that. Our best to all of you, with much love, Sheila and Fred

Condolence From: Bill and Ivy Stevens
Condolence: Ivy and I extend our deepest condolences to you Janice and your family. Bruce was a large influence in my life in 1964 when he coached our very successful 155 pound eight, and resulted in our connection extending over the past 52 years. I am so pleased you and Bruce were able to attend our crew's 50th anniversary in August 2014 to relive our Henley victory. Our last contact was just a few months ago when I received his e-mail congratulating me on being named St. Catharines Rowing Alumni - 2015 Alumni of the year ... because it was Bruce who in 1972 signed me up as a member! These are just a couple of our many contacts over the years and I am so happy that I can say I knew and was a freind of such a great guy, he will be remembered with great fondness. Bill
