Condolences

Condolence From: Sam Agro
Condolence: I will always think of him as Mr. Andrews, one of the best teachers I ever had. He was always gruff on the surface, but just one inch below that facade he was a deeply involved and supportive teacher. Mr. Andrews was the first person outside my family to really encourage me to pursue my interests in art and theatre, which made a huge difference in my life. I went on to become a professional illustrator and writer, and have even acted and performed professionally from time to time. I couldn't have done it without Mr. Andrews's early faith in my ability to make it happen. I know I'm only one of hundreds (or even thousands) of people he encouraged during his teaching career and his life. Though I offer my deepest condolences to his friends and family, they can be very proud of this caring and generous man. Best, Sam Agro

Condolence: What a lovely human being. Kind and thoughtful to me always. I know he has had a special impact on many, many people. I know too that Dad enjoyed his company and thought him a good friend having shared some of their youth together and remaining comrads over their life time. I enjoyed his unique take on the world around him and the twinkle in his eye. He seemed to know somethng the rest of us did not, and maybe he did. He will be missed. Blessings to each of you. Condolence: Sincere sympathy to all of you in Ross's family. The picture you chose is so Ross....with his smile, his sparkly and inquisitive eyes, and the questions one has about what is running around in his head. Our friendship with your family started way back in choir days, the quartet, the excitement when all 5 of you were born, the article he wrote about my Dad, the association your Mom and Dad had with Jim and Doris, and your happy memories go on and on. May you find peace and comfort as days go by.

Condolence: So very sad to read this news today. Mr. Andrews was a wonderful man and teacher and I have many fond memories of him, including a beautiful handle for my dad's old water pump that is still on our property, that Mr. Andrews so patiently helped me make on the lathe. We were one of the first classes allowed to have girls in shop class and he welcomed us and treated us as equals right from day one. Much love to his family xo

Condolence: I send my condolences on behalf of my family to the Andrews family. I had a good chat with Ross days before my dad passed away, as he took the time to come visit him, not just once, but a few times. Ross came with Cordell to the hospital as well as the nursing home and that meant a lot to Dad and to me. His column which he dedicated to my dad's memory was special and I will hold onto that forever. Ross's kindness will never be forgotten. I trust that they will continue their visits now, just as they did here on earth. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Connie

Condolence: Members of District 41 of the Elgin/St.Thomas Retired Teachers are saddened to hear of the passing of their colleague. A donation has been given in Ross's name to the St. Thomas Hospital Fund. Ross has been on my Goodwill list for several years and he always acknowledged the birthday cards I sent him by either e-mailing me or calling me. We had some interesting conversations. He was especially interested in whether there was in family connection since we have the same last name. He was sure we must be related distantly.
