1924 - 2015

Surrounded by his loving family, Murray Emerson of Vienna passed away peacefully at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital on Friday, September 25, 2015 at the age of 90 years. Beloved husband of 66 years to Dorothy (Matthews) Emerson. Proud father of Brenda Robertson of Simcoe, Dennis Emerson of London and Lanny Emerson of St. Thomas. Sadly missed by his sisters; Hazel Sales of Woodstock, Connie (Jack) Williams of St. Thomas, brother-in-law Clifford (Donna) Matthews of Sweaburg and sister-in-law Betty Czoll of Guelph. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Joseph and Stenna (Carter) Emerson, three brothers George Emerson, K.C. Emerson, and Donal Emerson as well as his son-in-law Jim Robertson (2001) and brother-in-law Leslie Czoll. Murray was a tobacco farmer in the Vienna area for many years as well as being on the Vienna School Board, working for Imperial Tobacco and driving truck. He was a Life Member of the Vienna Masonic Lodge #237 and Vienna Lodge (Oriental) #181. Friends and relatives will be received at Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg (519)842-5221 on Monday, September 28, 2015 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. where the Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Father Robert Clifford officiating. Interment in the St. Luke’s Cemetery, Vienna. A Masonic Lodge Service will be held on Monday evening at 6:30 p.m. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, St. Luke’s Anglican Church, Vienna or to the Brain Tumor Foundation would be appreciated.
