Duaine "Dewy" Douglas  Nelson
Duaine Douglas “Dewy” Nelson, passed away at Sakura House in Woodstock on Sunday, August 23rd, 2015 in his 79th year. He was surrounded by family, friends and a loving God during his life and in his final weeks and days.
Duaine was born the only child of Walter and Mary Nelson in Corinth on November 10th, 1935. Duaine was loved and will be greatly missed by his wife of 55 years, Alice Nelson (nee Campbell); his children Garry Nelson (Kelly Nelson) and Katie Nelson (Jonathan Haldane); his beloved grandchildren Jordon Nelson and Aidan Haldane; his brother-in-law Donald Campbell (Shirley Campbell); and sisters’-in-law Shirley Campbell and Mary Campbell; and many cherished nieces, nephews, their spouses and children. He is predeceased by his parents and bothers-in-law Ronald Campbell and Bob Campbell.
He was a lifelong resident of the Tillsonburg area and gave much to his community. He was recognized earlier this year for these contributions by being named the 2015 Citizen of the Year in Tillsonburg. He cared deeply about others and showed his caring through his actions.
Friends will be received at Ostrander’s Funeral Home in Tillsonburg on Tuesday, August 25th from 7:00 – 9:00pm. The funeral service will be held at Avondale United Church in Tillsonburg on Wednesday, August 26th at 11am. Friends are welcome to join the family for refreshments following the service at Avondale.
